Laura Powell

Veteran journalist Laura Powell has covered the world of travel for 20 years. In the course of her travel journalism career, she has been to more than 50 countries and hit 46 states. Laura started her career by creating CNN's travel programming. She covered the travel beat for CNN for nearly five years. Since leaving CNN, Laura has reported on travel for a wide variety of outlets, including the Food Network, Good Housekeeping, and www.womenontheirway.com. Currently, she pens travel supplements for The Washington Post, USA Today and National Geographic Traveler. She is also the go-to travel expert for the Fox affiliate in Washington, DC.

Laura is a nationally-recognized travel expert, having appeared on scores of television and radio programs across the country. She has been seen on ABC's World News This Morning, CNN Headline News, The Today Show/New York, CNBC and CNBC. She's also been interviewed on radio stations ranging from KCBS to WTOP to WGN. Laura holds an M.A. in European Politics from the University of Essex in Colchester, England and a B.S. Summa Cum Laude in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University.
